Tron (TRX) - A Decentralized Peer-To-Peer Content Sharing Platform
What is Tron?
Tron is attempting to create the content sharing platform of the future. Today, the major content-sharing platforms (like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter) control the an overwhelming amount of data. Facebook knows who you are and Instagram owns your pictures. Users don't own or control any of that. Tron is a blockchain-based platform that hope to give ownership back to the users.
Before we go further, it should be noted that Tron's roadmap (posted below) is a very long-term project. The platform is still in its infancy and isn't going to be completed until 2025 at least. So, an investment in Tron is mostly speculative at this point.
With that said, Tron is still one of the most popular coins today. We are constantly hearing about issues that Facebook and other social media empires are facing today. It's not a secret that these major corporations have significant control over their platforms. They control both your data as well as the censorship of data on the platform. With Tron, users will be able to create and share content without losing control of their data. It may not sound like a big deal to most - as we've become accustomed to giving Facebook our information - but this is a very big and growing problem in the world.
The goal of Tron is to be a platform that social media companies can use to create their own tokens. While today you can buy TRX (the official coin of Tron), in the future you would be able to buy tokens for individual blogs, apps, etc. and all of these new tokens will derive their price off of Tron. Although the coin is so far from completion, they have a become very popular in the past year due due to great market, a very strong developer team, and officially becoming a registered foundation in Singapore.
History of Tron!
Tron is a very new cryptocurrency that was founded in 2017 by Justin Sun (who is a very big name in tech, explained below). Shortly after inception, the Tron Foundation became an officially recognized and registered foundation in Singapore. Since then, Tron has done a great job in getting the word and and marketing the coin - which has driven up consumer awareness and the price of TRX. However, the platform is still very far from completion, as you can see in the screenshot below.

Who is on Tron's Team?
Justin Sun is the founder and CEO of the Tron Foundation and is a big part of the reason people are bullish on the project. Justin is only 27 years old and has already founded Peiwo (a snapcat-like app in China) and was listed by Forbes as 30 Under 30 in Asia (among many other awards). Further, Justin's personal mentor is Jack Ma, the creator of Alibaba and one of the most influential people in the world. Needless to say, Justin is a powerhouse in the tech/crypto community and that alone is driving a lot of the popularity in Tron. Other than Justin, Tron lists many of developers on their website that you can view here.
